Getting around
AirportAthens
Metro, bus, or taxi to the city or to Piraeus. Metro to the centre is about an hour.
FerriesBetween islands
The best way to move around. Prefer
daylight sailings since high speed boats are available. Book early, then check again a few days before: weather can change the timetable.
Ferryhopper is the place to compare.
Piraeus → Sifnos~€70 pp
2.5 to 5 hours, high-speed often 2.5 to 3. Frequent, with morning (7:00–9:00) and afternoon sailings.
Sifnos ↔ Milos~€15 pp
A short hop: 50 minutes high-speed, up to 2 hours conventional. Several a day, easy either way.
Milos → Piraeus~€80 pp
Early or early-afternoon high-speed on 19 Sep — 3 to 4 hours, not the last sailing. A morning or ~13:00 boat lands mid-afternoon and still leaves time for X96 / Line 3. A 16:00–17:00 SeaJet (land 19:30–20:30) is too tight for ATH by 21:30. Backup: fly Milos → ATH (~30 min, Olympic/Sky Express).
Piraeus → ATHX96 / Line 3
From the port, X96 express bus (~60–90 min, runs all night) or Metro Line 3 straight to the airport. Be at ATH by 21:30 — 3 hours before 6H570.
On the islands
An
ATV (150–350cc) or small car on both islands — not a 125cc scooter with a car (B) license. Chilean license is accepted without an IDP; confirm the agency accepts it when booking. Helmets mandatory (€350 fine). Alternative on Sifnos:
Sifnos Bike Experience e-bikes in Exambela (no license needed).

Worth planning ahead
- Flights are booked: Kiwi, Israir 6H567 out and 6H570 back. On 19 Sep take an early or early-afternoon Milos → Piraeus high-speed — not the last ferry — then X96 or Metro Line 3. Be at ATH by 21:30 (3 hours before 00:30).
- Sifnos and Milos ferries can be cancelled in strong wind. Keep a Milos → ATH flight (~30 min) as backup, and recheck times a few days before you travel.
- Acropolis tickets are timed. Buy them before the trip and go for the first slot: the site is €30 (Digital Guide app included) and the museum is €20.
- Book ATVs or a small car in advance for both islands — Chilean car license works without an IDP, but not for 125cc scooters. Confirm with the rental agency.
- Cards work almost everywhere. Carry a little cash for small shops and taxis.
